Maybe. As mentioned in the research notes, the market is changing. For many years asset valuations have enjoyed the benefits of near infinite liquidity. With the removal of that liquidity - necessitated by rising inflationary risks - cracks are forming in the support systems underpinning demand for many specific assets. The Predator Trading Group is an investor syndicate acting to profit from this reality. The processes employed essentially bleed resources from unproductive uses in order to redeploy them in a more efficient manner. It is profitable and necessary work that ensures the proper functioning of markets. Unfortunately, many perceive the activity as predatory. As a group we choose to embrace that perception. |

At present a growing theme is that ample liquidity has incentivised firms around the globe to borrow at artificially reduced rates. In many cases this is all fine an well. The money was invested wisely and can inevitably be repaid. Sometimes that isn't the case, however, and with rising rates and/or unexpected adjustments in the terms of trade (be it from tariffs, exchange rates, or otherwise) some firms are on the cusp of existential distress. By identifying firms with issues, group members take positions that would benefit from a particular outcome, then act to manifest that outcome for a windfall economic gain. |
